Went to the creative economy summit last weekend. Found it SUPER inspiring and educational. It can be really challenging and isolating to be a self-employed artist because there are so many skills sets and elements to it. The summit really helped shed light on some of these areas, such as getting press and finding funding for the arts. It was also great to feel like I was part of a larger community. Wow, I can't believe it's almost finished! This CD has been a labor of love and has taken nearly two years to complete. Tommy is mixing now, and from what I've heard of it, I think it will be well worth the wait. This record really was a collaborative effort with my producer, Tommy Byrnes. My favorite song on it I think is The Place. Tommy added some really lovely synths, making it sound like a kind of outerspace carnival. There are also deep bass synths, which add a sort of Joy Division element. I'm really pleased that my New Wave roots come through. Each song is really unique in style and in subject matter.
