Every time I go to Boston I think "why don't I live here again?" Maybe one day... was super impressed with the music community there. Had a great time at my show with Amy Kucharik at The Burren - used to hang out there a bunch at the open mic scene about 5 years ago and was cool to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. Though the music was totally rockin, was sad I didn't get a chance to connect and talk more with the folks there. Ended up being a rather hecktic time back stage, as I was playing with Amy's band for the very first time! Quickly teaching songs in the green room. Loved the new and interesting elements they brought to some of the older material.
Monday night at Lizard Lounge satisfied my desire for connection and much, much more. Not only was I BLOWN AWAY by the talent there, I also loved the cozy space and the vibe - everyone out to support each other and show love. Reminded me a lot of Kerrville. Got to chat with some seasoned musicians who had been in the business a lot longer than I, as well as play back-up uke and vocals for a girl who just came to sing "Bobby McGee" and "3 little birds" by Bob Marley - all in the same night! You can bet I'll be back in Bean town real soon :)
