Trying to work out the best way to do this blogging thing in terms of timing, as it is now officially day 5, however I am still in bed and nothing has happened. Since I work at night, it is easier for me to do my writing in the mornings or afternoons (when I get the pleasure of sleeping in). Anyway, I am happy to tell you all about yesterday, and tomorrow I will tell you all about today. Boy, would I make a horrible journalist!
Left Brooklyn around 10 am and took me another 2 hours to get back to trinity! I can't tell you how nice it felt to return to her. More and more, she is really feeling like home. Getting out of the city was a little traffic filled, but nothing too horrendous. Made a few stops along the way to DC - took a lot longer than I had anticipated - but got in to my dear friend Megan's house around 6pm. Megan is my friend from Middle School, and I'm realizing that I am now old enough to have friends from middle school that I have known longer than I have not known. Went down to the venue - Fireflies in Alexandria around 7pm and got some dinner. What a sweet little spot! Sort of this funky family restaurant. They really seem to take care of their musicians, sadly this is sometimes more the exception to the rule, and I so much appreciated their appreciation for the arts! After playing what turned out to be a free show the night before, it was also lovely to walk home with a pretty penny in my pocket. This was the first 2 - hour set that I've played in a long time. Was a bit nervous about it, but it actually turned out great. I appear to have more than enough material, and had fun re-working some of the older stuff.
Looking forward to eating my delicious leftovers today, as well as walking around DC and spending time with my uncle, aunt and cousin this evening. Ma
