I think I may have officially overcome my fear of driving yesterday. I was far less rattled by the endless truck monsters that overran the road the last stretch of the trip.
After 12 hours on the road (8 1/2 total driving time) I arrived at my friend Lynne's house, who I will be co-billing with for the next week. She is an excellent banjo player/singer songwriter who also does shadow puppet theater and music therapy. (Check her out at Lynneholcombe.com !) Her house is super cozy and funky and I already feel right at home. For breakfast, she made me cheese grits and salad. So creamy like eating salty clouds. Today we will explore Greenville (much bigger city than I realized !) and then get ready for our show tonight at Garaj Mahal - a super funky warehouse and performance space. Her friend will punctuate our set with fire spinning , bed of nails, and long blue dreadlocks. I can't wait!
