Before I launch in, I just want to take some time and gush a little bit about the city have found myself smittin with for the past 4 months:
Went for a walk along Lady Bird lake tonight after spending hours and hours on Facebook. It was dusk and everyone was out running or cycling or walking their dog. I love that I live in a city where the park signs have guitars and so do the statues. I love the bridges and the train that runs over it that I can stand under after night has fallen and let the sounds and vibrations engulf me. I love that I can walk alone at night and feel safe (or as safe as a woman can feel alone at night...) and I love that this city has connected me with the appropriate people for this album to happen. I know, for many reasons, that this project can only be born here, in Austin. Rock and Roll.
OK, so if you have been on facebook and looked at my posts at all in the past few days, you probably noticed that I have finally launched the kickstarter for my new album! I knew this would be a lot of work, but really, I kind of had no idea. Not only is it a lot of work, but it is also extremely emotional and pushes on some buried insecurities. You are basically making yourself completely raw, exposed and vulnerable to the world and saying "Tell me I'm good!!" That said, it has also been a totally awesome experience, and great to have an excuse to reach out and reconnect with old friends. Mainly, I have been totally floored and extremely touched at the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, old acquaintances and perfect strangers! If I could summarize it in two words they would have to be: Spiritual Practice.
It was really special for me to talk with my dear friend and fellow Woman Songwriter Collective Christa Joy on day 2 of my campaign. She had recently run a kickstarter and was successful in surpassing her goal for her new album (which by the way is going to kick some serious ass and I totally encourage you all to go see her live. Seriously, this girl rocks). Was good to know that everything that I was feeling and noticing within myself was within the sphere of normal. :)
So I will leave you now, again, with none other than (you guessed it) the link to my kickstarter campaign! Please donate and share widely :)
